Creatively Enhancing the Everyday
What We Do
Everyday Embellished is a mother-daughter duo who spread joy by embellishing everyday items. We focus on practical, but pretty, products that are well designed, made, coordinated and embellished. Our products are sweet, balanced with just enough wit to garner smiles.
Who We Are
Cherie
OWNER, FOUNDER, & SEAMSTRESS
Cherie began sewing as a child learning from her Mother, 4 H, and home economics. Her Mother made most of her clothes including a graduation dress and coat. After college graduation, work as a Registered Nurse, marriage, and having children Cherie resumed sewing, this time for her children and home. The birth of the first of 3 grandsons and a new home stimulated her desire to sew again, this time adding the ability to embroider and quilt. Cherie now uses her skills for Everyday Embellished.
Christine
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Christine has always been a creative (and crafty) person. She learned to sew as a child from her Mom (Cherie) and girl scouts. One of her early craft projects created for others was creating paper Christmas trees out of TV Guides through clever folding and spray paint. In school, she applied her creativity to graphic design as yearbook editor in both Jr. High and High School. She continued that into college graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in Graphic Design. Today Christine utilizes her creativity for Everyday Embellished.
How We Started
THE STIMULUS: A new home and a new grandson inspired a “rusty” nurse to resume sewing; however, the 20+ year old sewing machine didn’t work well. Thinking of all the possibilities, Cherie selected a machine that sews, does decorative stitches, quilts, embroiders, and works with the computer and embroidery software. Mother and daughter worked together fashioning several items to give as gifts to their family and friends.
DIVINE INSPIRATION came when their church asked for crafters for the Mission Fair to benefit missions 100%. We developed several items to “sell.” People loved the quality, and could tell the practical products were made and embellished with loving care, and attention to detail. Many took advantage of the opportunity to customize and personalize items. The success of making things that bring people joy, inspiration, and smiles motivated us to form a business, adopt a name, and begin showing at craft fairs.
How We Do It
Most items are created together, being passed back and forth several times, though over time we each have specialized on different aspects of production. Design is a collaborative process. For most sewn items Cherie is the primary seamstress and embroiderer, while Christine does the cutting, pinning, and pressing. Other items are crafted more independently.
